COMEDY KING IS BEST SELLING ACT IN THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST OF IRELAND.
Local comedian Conal Gallen has just received a huge accolade. Whilst at a meeting with his record company RMG Chart in their Dublin based offices, Conal was presented with his first ever Platinum Disc. Conal was giving this in recognition of record sales for his latest DVD and Album, Live And Full Of It. 2007 was a huge year for Conal, as he received an Award from BBC Radio Ulster for having the most requested song in the history of the station. The song was titled Horse It Into Ya Cynthia and also became number one in local radio stations all across the country. Conal embarked on his nationwide tour in September and his success was proven time and time again with all shows being sold out weeks in advance, with extra dates being added where possible. When we looked into it we were pleasantly surprised to find that Conal Gallen was in fact the biggest selling show in Northern Ireland for the last 3 years running. And he is determined to make it a fourth time this year.
2008 is proving to be an even bigger year for the comic. Conal’s New DVD has been recorded and will be ready for release in September. He will also be taking to the stage in the Country’s largest and prestigious venues, when he embarks on his biggest tour to date. Conal will be on a 70 night theatre tour and playing in such venues as the 2000 seater Waterfront Hall in Belfast for 2 Nights in January, as well as the 2000 seater INEC Killarney, The University Concert Hall, Limerick, 3 nights in the Millennium Forum Theatre, Derry to name but a few. When you attend one of Conal Gallen’s Concerts you are always garaunteed real comedy! Conal has his audience in stitches from start to finish with his hilarious jokes and stories and comedy songs. The one thing with this show is that the audience doesn’t know whats coming next. Don’t be surprised though because neither does Conal. The funny man prides himself on being a comedian who tells real jokes and goes for real belly laughs, unlike many of the younger up and coming comedians that you see on TV today. They seem to try to imitate the likes of great comedians such as Billy Connolly or Peter Kay by using observational humour but just don’t seem to get it right.
Conal Gallen has racked up 20 years of experience as a comedian, so a two hour show of pure comedy and laughter is like a walk in the park for him. He has performed his shows all over the world and is very proud of the fact that he has brought the house down with every performance and has been asked back to every venue he as ever played. When Asked recently, What he wants to do next in his career, Conal replied: “My own television show. I have some great idea’s for one!”.
Conal will be appearing all over the country in his 70 night tour between September 2008 and March 2009. Keep an eye out, as you don’t want to miss an opportunity to see him “Live and Still Full of It” in a venue near you. And don’t just take my word for it, go and see for yourself that CONAL GALLEN really is Ireland’s Funniest Man, In Ireland’s Funniest Show.
